Opening Program of Economic Development and Global Education

On Saturday, June 1st Economic Development and Global Education (EDGE) had their opening ceremony at the Swiss garden hotel. It was attended by many prominent figures from organizations such as the World Bank, JETRO, JICA, Bangladesh Institute of Development studies (BIDS), Dutch-Bangla Bank, Business Automation Ltd, Bangladesh-Japan Friendship Association as well as members of the Asian Development Bank.EDGE founded by Tomomi Tanaka is working in partnership with the Bengali based companies Syntax Solution Ltd. & e-education (BacBon Foundation). EDGE is working to expand the job market for young Bengali women by improving their outsourcing & freelancing skills. Currently, three American interns from Arizona State University are in Dhaka to help launch the school, the curriculum covers English as well as office skills.

“All of our students are so bright and eager to learn” said intern Cameron Tattle. Another young intern Candy Campbell mentioned how “it is such an honor to be a part of such a tremendous program working with such talented women.”
